Americans and what is legally binding?

The cheek of the Americans!

Heard over the radio that the US government had called on Beijing to abide by the ruling by Hague on her territory disputes with Philippines over South China Sea. The official was quoted as saying the ruling is legally binding on China.

What? Coming from a country that refuses to ratify the United Nations Convention On the Law of Sea themselves?  The same country which refuses to ratify also the International Criminal Court? And in the week after the release of the UK report on the illegal war in Iraq?  Led by the US which ignored the United Nations vote to invade Iraq?

The irony seemed to have been lost on them. In any case, China’s disregard of the ruling reinforces our belief that at the end of the day, we need the SAF. International laws are only useful if you have the power to enforce them.
